Thai Immigration police have located a Chinese national identified as SHANG (pseudonym), who is wanted by Chinese authorities in connection with an alleged online investment fraud that reportedly caused losses of more than 1.6 million yuan, equivalent to over 8 million baht. The suspect was found at a condominium in Bangkok’s Ratchada area.

According to Immigration Bureau investigators, the case began in May 2025 when a Chinese victim watched videos on the Hongguo Short Drama app, entered a livestream and contacted its host through WeChat. The alleged perpetrators then promoted a cross-border e-commerce business and persuaded the victim to use software called “AColasiafaih” to place repeated orders and deposit money into an account.

Investigators said the victim was also instructed to exchange cash for US dollars and hand money to various individuals on multiple occasions. After realizing the alleged scheme was fraudulent, the victim reported the case to police on May 19, 2025. Chinese authorities subsequently traced the financial transactions and issued an arrest warrant for Shang on fraud charges on June 25, 2025.

Following information shared by Chinese authorities, officers from Immigration Bureau Investigation Division 2 tracked the suspect to a condominium in Huai Khwang district, Bangkok. Authorities revoked his permission to remain in Thailand under Section 36 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) and transferred him to Immigration Bureau Investigation Division 3 for further legal proceedings.

Immigration police said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to track foreign nationals wanted in connection with transnational crime through cooperation with overseas law enforcement agencies.
