RAYONG, Thailand — October 9, 2026
Thailand’s cyber police have arrested two Cambodian nationals suspected of selling methamphetamine through a Facebook group, seizing 30 methamphetamine pills and other evidence during an undercover operation in Rayong province.
According to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, investigators identified a Facebook group with more than 4,000 members in which some users allegedly posted offers to sell, buy and exchange illegal drugs. Officers reportedly traced an account suspected of selling drugs to young people in Phe and Samnak Thong subdistricts of Rayong.
On October 8, officers arranged an undercover purchase of 30 methamphetamine pills for 1,100 baht, with the handover scheduled outside an unnumbered rental room in Klaeng subdistrict, Mueang Rayong district. At around 8 p.m., police moved in after two men arrived separately on motorcycles. The suspects were identified as a 35-year-old man known as Phat and a 27-year-old man known as Chai, both Cambodian nationals.
Police seized 30 methamphetamine pills, the 1,100 baht used in the operation, two mobile phones and two motorcycles. Authorities said neither man could produce travel documents or valid permission to stay in Thailand. Both were charged with jointly selling and possessing methamphetamine for distribution without authorization, allegedly for commercial purposes, as well as entering or staying in Thailand illegally. Police said both suspects admitted to the allegations.
Investigators are continuing to trace the source of the drugs and identify others who may be involved in the alleged trafficking network.
